Notes

IAA District 3 - Director Wayne Thiel 890-8866.

This one-way, dirt & turf Forest Service airstrip provides access to good fishing in Big Creek and to big game hunting in the surrounding hills. It is located in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness.

The airstrip surface is subject to erosion both from water and prop wash. Water bars were installed across the runway many years ago to minimize water erosion. Prop wash continues to be a problem as soil is blown from the surface, exposing the water bars and rocks. The Forest Service recognizes that at some point, it will have to do major work here.
