All Day
This is an Idaho Aviation Foundation (IAF) activity and will be focused on improving the site for public events and will include "hands on" labor. Tasks will be assigned on site, and will include some landscaping, fence repair, building repair, moving logs, etc. Bring gloves and basic work tools. You may want to call Site Manager Vic Jaro (info below) to see if you should bring specific tools. Stay the weekend or just a few hours. If you plan to camp, bring your own gear and food. You can camp under your wing for free or at the USFS camp area for a small fee. Snacks will be provided along with plenty of thank you's.

Notes
IAA District 3 - Director Wayne Thiel 890-8866.
Big Creek was a popular destination for pilots seeking food and lodging until the lodge burned in 2008. A log duplex and a couple of out buildings remain.
The well-kept, state airstrip continues to be used by those who have cabins in the area and by others who want to camp in the adjacent campground at the south end of the airstrip. Potable water, fire rings, tables and a vaulted toilet are available at the campground.

Management Plans
Classification: DEVELOPED
Airstrips have basic navigational aids and some additional services such as restrooms or camping facilities. May have road access to nearby attractions. Typically located in areas of high use, often in remote settings, but may be accessed by improved roads.
Maintenance: Clear hazardous vegetation from approaches, remove obstacles, blade, mow, water, treat invasive and noxious weeds, and make spot improvements regularly to maintain improved airstrip surface.
This information has been compiled from a number of sources. The status of airstrip facilities, conditions, available services, ownership, and managers are constantly changing. The Idaho Aviation Association assumes no responsibility for incomplete or inaccurate information contained herein.
