IAA District 3 - Director Wayne Thiel 890-8866

Mahoney Airstrip is located on a bluff nearly 400 feet above the Middle Fork of the Salmon River. Its dirt surface is susceptible to damage from big game animals.

There are no camping facilities. Maintained by the Salmon/Challis National Forest and IAA work parties.

Classification: WILD

Airstrips may have basic navigation aids such as windsock and runway markers and limited or no user facilities. Typically located in the remotest settings away from roads and communities.
Maintenance: Clear hazardous vegetation from approaches, remove obstacles, treat noxious weeds and maintain useable airstrip surface.
