Once one of Idaho's most popular airstrips, Chamberlain lost that status after camping amenities were removed and several major fires ravaged the area. The Forest Service still is trying to find a solution to the drainage problem at the intersection of the two runways. Wilderness camping is available at several sites adjacent to the main runway.

Observation Date: August 29, 2024

Landed at Chamberlain Basin today. The runway is very rough. Lots of large gopher holes. The tie down areas are very rough, worse than the runway. Lots of overgrown vegetation in the tie down areas. I was in a Cessna 185. I would not go to this strip in a nose wheel aircraft. The West third of the runway is very rocky with deep groves.

Observation Date: October 18, 2022

Landed without trouble. As almost always there is one lonely deer on the west end of the airstrip, but she stays out of the way and doesn't bother anyone. Great airstrip.
