Elevation: 2454 Longitude: -114.9273333

IAA District 2 - Director Bill Ables 541-263-1327 Moose Creek is one of the Forest Service's best-maintained airstrips, located at the confluence of Moose Creek and the Selway River in the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness. In 2010, with the help of IAA volunteers, the Ranger District moved the recommended camping area from the west side of runway 01/19, where large, diseased trees pose a safety hazard, to the south end between the intersecting runways. The large wooden picnic tables were removed. Portable tables and firepans are available at the Ranger Station. Potable water also is available at the Ranger Station. Fishing usually is good in both Moose Creek and the Selway. No tie downs, no winter maintenance.

Pilot Reports

Observation Date: August 29, 2018
Runway in great shape. The grass has been mowed between the runways and the preferred campground area. It has also been mowed along the runway edges and the runway ends for turnaround. Thank you to the forest service for having this done!

Observation Date: March 30, 2019
Both the long and short runways at Moose Creek have standing snow and soft filed conditions. Given the current conditions, expect soft field conditions longer than normal this year. Any reports or updates are always appreciated. Thank you... Willy Acton, Forest Aviation Officer, Nez Perce- Clearwater NF 208-507-0942
