The road adjacent to the airstrip is a corridor through the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness. Wilderness rules apply either side of the road.

A fully developed campground lies about a half mile downstream from the airstrip. Fishing can be good in Loon Creek. Hot springs are located about five miles downstream. Maintenance: Clear hazardous vegetation from approaches, remove obstacles, blade, mow, water, treat invasive and noxious weeds, and make spot improvements regularly to maintain improved airstrip surface.
