This short but smooth airstrip can be busy with helicopter traffic during the summer and particularly during forest fire season. The Krassel Ranger station is located on the east side. The airstrip is on a bluff above the South Fork of the Salmon River. There are no camping amenities. The more user-friendly Reed Ranch Airstrip is located just a few miles upstream.
