-116.875084Landing at the 45 Ranch is at your own risk. The airstrip is 2,700’ long by 60’ wide at a field elevation of 4,300’ with terrain obstructions at each end of the runway. The runway is generally north/south with preferred calm wind landing to the north. Traffic advisories on 122.9.
Pilots should be experienced and proficient in both mountain/canyon flying and high density altitude operations. Do not land if there are sprinklers in operation on the runway. There is an alternate BLM strip approximately 2 miles to the east (the old 45 Ranch strip) with clean approaches and a crosswind runway. It has some sage encroachment, but is serviceable in an emergency, or if winds in the canyon are too high to use the runway in the valley bottom. If someone lands at the old strip, we would be happy to drive up and pick them up. The location is remote and there is no fuel available at the 45 Ranch, so please plan accordingly.
The airstrip is on private land along the South Fork of the Owyhee River in the far southwest corner of Idaho. The new airstrip is open to the public, the onsite caretaker can be contacted at (541) 212-6582 for an update on runway conditions.
