Formerly owned by J.R. Simplot, Loon Creek now belongs to Idaho Fish & Game. Even though the airstrip has had an "R" designation for many years, it has been open to the public willing to brave the short, technical runway. The "R" will be removed on future FAA charts. There is a wildnerness campground at the mouth of Loon Creek, but it often is occupied by rafters floating the Middle Fork. There is a wonderful hot springs about a mile upstream.  In 2018 RWY was resurfaced.  1 set of tie downs.  No winter maintenance.
