King Mountain Glider Safari

King Mountain Glider Safari

King Mountain Glider Park, Idaho

📅 29 August 2026 – 6 September 2026

“All Birds Welcome” isn’t just a slogan — it’s an invitation. We’re bringing together pilots of all experience levels, flying everything from hang gliders to paragliders to sailplanes, for a one-of-a-kind soaring event. A World-Class Site, King Mountain has earned its reputation as a powerful, dynamic flying site.

The numbers speak for themselves:

  • Paragliding Site Records have been broken at multiple safaris 200km +
  • The Idaho Hang Gliding distance record was set here: King Mountain to Bozeman, Montana
  • The Idaho Paragliding distance record was recently flown from nearby Sun Valley to just south of Helena, Montana — 240 miles
  • The US National Hang Gliding Championships have been held at King Mountain
  • The Paragliding Nationals have twice been held in nearby Sun Valley
  • The Paragliding World Open Distance meet was held in Sun Valley, with one day flown here at King Mountain

Sailplanes have flown this region for decades, Sun Valley was a premier soaring destination in the 70s and 80s, and the annual Mackay Regatta — held just north of us each summer — continues to push pilots in this exceptional mid-latitude location.

Previous King Mountain Glider Park Safaris have produced numerous sailplane flights exceeding 600km.

The fun doesn’t end when you land. Every night features campfires, live music, and great company. Free camping is available on site with hot showers and porta-potties.
