Opening this airstrip was something the IAA played a huge part in, along with Fish & Game, Idaho Div. of Aeronautics and others.
After many years of work with Idaho Fish & Game, the Idaho Division of Aeronautics, and the U.S. Forest Service, IAA volunteers were instrumental in cleaning up the Hoodoo Meadows airstrip to make it safe for aviation. This airstrip adds another trailhead to a popular area for hunters and anglers, helping to relieve pressure and crowding in other parts of the forest.
Most recently, IAA member Dave Shallow worked with a USFS road crew. They graded the road to Middle Fork Peak for the first time in over 20 years, and at the same time, worked the road to Hoodoo campground and airstrip. Dave asked them to do a pass at the airstrip itself, improving the turn-around area a bunch and doing some stump removal. Dave even flew the crew in at his own expense to walk the airstrip with them and get them squared away. A huge thank you to Central Idaho Aviation and Capt. Dave Shallow!
